Everything on this itinerary stays within Greater Cairo. It runs from the pyramid fields of Giza and Saqqara, past the Grand Egyptian Museum beside the Pyramids, to the Citadel, the minarets and the bazaars of Islamic Cairo. Short private-vehicle transfers connect every stop, so your four days go into exploring, not sitting in traffic.

Itinerary

Day 1: Touchdown in Cairo Land at Cairo International Airport and let us take it from here. Our meet-and-assist service meets you just outside your gate and guides you through passport control, luggage claim and customs. They then accompany you to the Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel (Nile View Room). Settle in and get ready for what’s next.

Day 2: Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza Pyramids, Camel Ride & the Sphinx (Breakfast, Lunch) After breakfast, meet your Egyptologist at 7:30 AM; they stay with you throughout your trip. Your first stop is the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization. It showcases thousands of ancient Egyptian treasures, including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun, and stands close to the Pyramids of Giza. Lunch is at an authentic local restaurant.

Then proceed to the Pyramids of Giza. They are the only surviving wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and they never lose their ability to inspire and overwhelm visitors. Enjoy your camel ride at the Pyramids, then meet the mysterious Sphinx, an ancient figure shrouded in legend, while your Egyptologist brings its story to life. You return to your hotel at 4:00 PM. Dinner tonight is at your leisure. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 3: Saqqara, Islamic Cairo & Khan El Khalili (Breakfast, Lunch) You are picked up from your hotel at 8:30 AM. Drive to Saqqara, the necropolis of Memphis and home of the Step Pyramid, the first limestone structure ever built. Explore its 4,350-year-old colored tombs, and go inside a pyramid to see the hieroglyphics engraved on its walls thousands of years ago.

Then tour Islamic Cairo to visit the Citadel, a spectacular medieval fortress from the 12th century perched on a hill above the city. Inside it you’ll see the Mosque and Tomb of the great Ottoman ruler Mohamed Ali. Lunch is at an authentic local restaurant.

After lunch, continue to the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, reputed to be the largest bazaar in the Middle East. It began as a watering stop for caravans in the 14th century and has since grown to vast proportions. You return to your hotel at 4:00 PM. Dinner tonight is at your leisure. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 4: Farewell, Cairo (Breakfast) Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then transfer to Cairo International Airport. You fly home with your heart full of the sights, sounds and voices of Egypt.
