Tour Map

The journey starts in Cairo and Giza, then heads south by air to Aswan and on to Abu Simbel on Egypt’s southern border. From Aswan you sail north on the Nile through Kom Ombo, Edfu and Esna to Luxor, then fly back to Cairo for your departure.

Itinerary

Day 1: Touchdown in Cairo (arrival day: Tuesday) Arrive at Cairo Airport. Our meet-and-assist service meets you just outside your gate and takes you through passport control, luggage claim and customs. They then accompany you to the Fairmont Nile City Hotel (Deluxe Nile View Room).

Day 2: Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza Pyramids & the Sphinx (Breakfast, Lunch) After breakfast, meet your Egyptologist at 7:30 AM. Visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization, home to thousands of treasures including the complete collection of King Tutankhamun. Lunch is at an authentic local restaurant.

Proceed to the Pyramids of Giza, the only surviving wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and enjoy your camel ride there. Then visit the mysterious Sphinx, while your Egyptologist tells its story. You return to your hotel at 4:00 PM. Dinner tonight is at your leisure. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 3: Saqqara, Islamic Cairo & Khan El Khalili (Breakfast, Lunch) You are picked up from your hotel at 8:30 AM. Drive to Saqqara, the necropolis of Memphis and home of the Step Pyramid, the first limestone structure ever built. Explore its 4,350-year-old colored tombs, and go inside a pyramid to see the hieroglyphics engraved on its walls.

Then tour Islamic Cairo to visit the Citadel, a medieval fortress from the 12th century perched above the city, with the Mosque and Tomb of Mohamed Ali. Lunch is at an authentic local restaurant. Continue to the Khan El Khalili Bazaar, reputed to be the largest in the Middle East and founded in the 14th century. You return to your hotel at 4:00 PM. Dinner tonight is at your leisure. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 4: Abu Simbel & Embarkation in Aswan (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) After breakfast and check out, transfer to Cairo Domestic Airport and board your EgyptAir flight to Aswan. On arrival, board your flight to Abu Simbel.

Visit Abu Simbel on Egypt’s southern border, home of two massive rock temples dedicated to Pharaoh Ramses II and his wife Nefertari. See the gigantic statues of the pharaoh that have stood for over 3,200 years, flanking the entrance to one of the most impressive temples in Egypt. Fly back to Aswan, where an air-conditioned vehicle takes you to the Sonesta St. George Nile Cruise.

Embark at 12:00 before lunch, and enjoy lunch on board. Visit the High Dam and the Temple of Philae, sailing on the Nile by motorboat. Afternoon tea is served, followed by the Captain’s welcome cocktail and dinner on board. Overnight in Aswan.

Day 5: Kom Ombo & Edfu (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Breakfast on board, then sail to Kom Ombo. Visit the temple shared by two gods, Sobek and Haroeris. Sail on to Edfu, with lunch on board. Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the best-preserved temple of the ancient world. Dinner on board. Sail to Esna and overnight there.

Day 6: Luxor’s West Bank (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) Sail early in the morning to Luxor. After breakfast on board, visit the West Bank: the Valley of the Kings and Queens (including the Tomb of King Tutankhamun and the Tomb of Ramses VI), the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch, afternoon tea and dinner are served on board. Overnight in Luxor.

Day 7: Karnak, Luxor Temple & Fly to Cairo (Breakfast) Breakfast on board, then disembark at 8:00 AM. Visit Karnak Temple, the largest religious complex ever built for a god in the history of mankind and dedicated to Amon Ra, then Luxor Temple, built predominantly by Ramses II. Transfer to Luxor Domestic Airport and board your EgyptAir flight to Cairo. On arrival, transfer to the Hilton Heliopolis Hotel (Guest Room). Dinner tonight is at your leisure. Overnight in Cairo.

Day 8: Farewell, Egypt (Breakfast) Enjoy breakfast and check out. Transfer to Cairo International Airport, three hours before your international departure.
