Enjoy the Adventure

This nine-day journey takes you from Cairo’s ancient monuments to the temples and landscapes of the Nile Valley, with time to explore the places in between rather than simply passing through them.

Begin with the Egyptian Museum and the historic neighborhoods of Cairo before turning to Memphis, Saqqara, the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. Then fly south to Luxor and board the Sonesta St. George Nile Cruise for a journey through Upper Egypt.

As the cruise moves between Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan, discover some of Egypt’s most important temples and ancient landscapes. Visit the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut, explore Edfu by horse carriage, discover Kom Ombo’s temples and crocodile mummies, then continue to Philae and Elephantine Island.

The journey reaches one of its most dramatic points with a flight to Abu Simbel, where the monumental temples of Ramses II and Nefertari stand in the far south of Egypt. After returning to Cairo, spend your final night near the airport before departure.

Tour Map

The journey starts in Cairo, flies south to Luxor to board the Nile cruise, then travels along the Nile toward Aswan. From Aswan, fly to Abu Simbel before returning through Aswan to Cairo.

Itinerary

DAY 1 — Touchdown in Cairo

Arrival at Cairo Airport, meet-and-assist through passport control, luggage claim and customs, then transfer to the Kempinski Nile Hotel, Deluxe Nile View Room.

DAY 2 — The Egyptian Museum & Islamic Cairo (Breakfast, Lunch)

8:30 AM pick-up. Visit the Egyptian Museum and Tutankhamun’s golden treasures. Lunch. Explore the Citadel, the Mosque and Tomb of Mohamed Ali, and the Mosque of Sultan Hassan. Finish at Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Back by 4 PM; dinner on your own.

DAY 3 — Memphis, Saqqara & the Pyramids of Giza (Breakfast, Lunch)

7:30 AM start with your Egyptologist. Visit Memphis, Saqqara’s Step Pyramid and ancient colored tombs, with the opportunity to enter a pyramid and see its hieroglyphics. Lunch. Continue to the Pyramids of Giza, camel ride and Sphinx. Back by 4 PM; dinner on your own.

DAY 4 — Fly to Luxor & Board the Sonesta St. George (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Breakfast and checkout, then fly to Luxor. Transfer to the Sonesta St. George Nile Cruise and embark before lunch. Lunch on board, followed by Karnak and Luxor Temples on the East Bank. Afternoon tea and dinner on board. Overnight in Luxor.

DAY 5 — Valley of the Kings & Hatshepsut (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

After breakfast, visit the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch on board, then sail toward Edfu. Overnight in Edfu.

DAY 6 — Edfu & Kom Ombo (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

After breakfast, visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu by horse carriage. Sail to Kom Ombo and visit its temple dedicated to the crocodile and falcon gods, followed by the Crocodile Mummification Museum. Overnight in Kom Ombo.

DAY 7 — Philae, Elephantine & Felucca Sailing (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Disembark after breakfast. Visit Philae Island and the Temple of Isis, then walk through Elephantine Island and explore Nubian culture while meeting Nubian women. Finish with a traditional felucca sail down the Nile. Overnight in Aswan.

DAY 8 — Abu Simbel & Return to Cairo (Breakfast, Lunch)

Breakfast and checkout, then fly from Aswan to Abu Simbel. Visit the monumental temples of Ramses II and Nefertari, then fly back to Cairo via Aswan. Transfer to the Le Meridien Cairo Airport Hotel, Deluxe Room. Dinner on your own.

DAY 9 — Farewell (Breakfast)

Breakfast, checkout and transfer to Cairo International Airport approximately three hours before your international departure.
